How does IPT™ differ from conventional chemotherapy? | | When a person is diagnosed with cancer, many oncologists advise chemotherapy to kill the cancer cells. The well-recognized problem with this is that a series of chemotherapy treatments is that they commonly also destroy good cells resulting in damage to the body's immune system, and, at the same time, wreak havoc on other parts of the body. Hair loss, vomiting, fever, chills, shivers, and damage to blood components are quite common. Various types of blood transfusions are frequently required as a result of the devastation caused by chemotherapy. Over time, regular chemotherapy dosages may so compromise the patient's blood counts, immune in the patient's death. IPT™ treatment (low-dose chemotherapy in conjunction with insulin) combines lower dose administration of conventional cancer chemotherapeutic agents with a modification that increases the cancer drug's ability to target and kill cancer cells while sparing patients from the dose-related side effects of traditional chemotherapy treatments that are listed above. It's powerful, yet safer. | What are the main benefits of IPT™ Treatment? | While the Best Answer For Cancer Foundation Foundation, along with IPT™ physicians including Drs. Garcia and Ayre, is pursuing additional research needed to better understand the clinical impacts of IPT™ across the spectrum of cancer patients, IPT™ physicians are committed to the therapy because, in their experience, IPT™ offers the following benefits: - IPT™ is tough on tumors and cancer cells yet gentle on patients, enabling them to live normal, vital lifestyles while being treated.
- Treatments require only 1 to 1 2 hours per week and can be administered in an outpatient facility.
- Treatment costs are significantly less than standard chemotherapy protocols. (Please see our discussion of insurance reimbursement.)
- With over seventy years of patient experience, not one patient has ever died from IPT™ itself. This stands in contrast to the risks of conventional chemotherapy.
| What cancers respond to IPT™? | | IPT treatment has been reported to work well for many types of cancers. There are also reports of IPT™ bringing responses and remissions to patients with some very difficult cancers, even cancers in late stages. Of course, each patient is evaluated individually, depending upon the type of cancer, the virulence of the individual cancer cells (their ability to wreak havoc), and the development stage of the cancer when the patient first comes for treatment. | Is IPT™ just as effective as the chemotherapy my oncologist would prescribe? | | IPT™ has been used successfully abroad for over 70 years with a good track record of success. It has only recently been used in the USA, and there are many happy patients who now support this modified form of chemotherapy. Many patients say that IPT™ is at least as effective as conventional chemotherapy, and that it is certainly more comfortable than the suffering they experienced with regular chemotherapy. Of course, IPT™ is not a panacea, cancer remains a tough adversary, and patients should be aware that not everyone responds to IPT™. | What are the dangers of conventional chemotherapy? | Numerous, harmful side effects associated with high-dose chemotherapy include: - Hair loss, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, depression
- Bone marrow suppression, anemia and low white blood cell counts, which can lead to serious infection
- Immune system and vital organ damage
- DNA distortion of healthy cells, making them pre-cancerous
- Death has occurred due to complications created by high-dose chemotherapy
| Are there any side effects of IPT™ treatment? | | The vast majority of IPT™ patients experience no lasting side effects at all. Slight hair loss, occasional nausea, upset stomach and diarrhea occurs in a very small percentage of patients. These relatively minor effects are generally well controlled with medication. | Is there any danger with IPT™ treatment? | | When practiced by a competent, well-trained physician, IPT™ has demonstrated no threat to the life or well being of the patient. | What can I expect to experience during treatment? | | During an IPT™ treatment, a patient can expect to experience a mild hypoglycemic reaction. The symptoms that can be experienced are hunger, thirst, sweating, stronger heartbeat, or a feeling of apprehension. With the administration of glucose at a specific time during treatment, all of these symptoms rapidly and completely disappear. | What adjunct therapies should I consider doing during IPT™? | | In an effort to maximize the effects of IPT™, and to maintain a healthy and strong immune system during treatment, it is suggested that you adopt good lifestyle habits such as proper nutrition, exercise (as tolerated), and proper sleep. In addition, a detoxification program should be incorporated. Vitamin, mineral and amino acid supplementation administered orally and/or intravenously are also recommended. French Spanish German | |
